We Repurpose Wednesday: That Old Towel

Well, this was actually going to be the reader question for Yesterday, but since I missed yesterday due to illness with my boy child (who is still not feeling great, poor kiddo), I thought that I'd just save it for today and do double duty here.  So, here's the "Take it to the Streets Tuesday" question and the "We Repurpose it Wednesday" post all in one!  See, I'm multi-tasking =D.

Brenda, one of our readers asked if I had any ideas for repurposing towels.  I guess when they say you can never have too many towels they were wrong as Brenda, who has a lot of foster kids, got a huge amount of them as a wedding present (by the way Brenda, congrats and God bless on the wedding :).  She doesn't want to give them away or anything, but now she has a huge amount of "semi-old" towels as well as a bunch of new towels too.  So, she asked me for some help for ideas and I thought I'd pass the list of things you can do with towels onto the rest of you (some of these are better left for cheap new towels...Target dollar area anyone? while some of them you can use old OR new towels to do :).

So, here are a few ideas that I dug up, Brenda.  Hope you find some inspiration :).

Turn an old pair of flip flops and an old towel into a pair of spa slippers (they tried to do machine sewing and the machine couldn't handle the bulk of the fabric.  My advice would be to just hand sew it and make sure you have a good thimble and a thick upholstery needle to do it :).

Make a Spiffy Spa Headwrap (direct link to PDF file tutorial).

I found the above head wrap idea and this one when I was searching for home made spa projects I could do.  This turns out pretty cool looking when you're done...

Make a cool Bath Pouf.  Just as an aside if you've never been to Ruffles and Stuff you have to just hang out there one day and look around.  Pretty cool site (at least I like it :).

Make Pillows out of them (I'm so going to try this one).

I find this to be an awesome idea.  This is a tote bag and a towel all in one (it just folds out when you want into an actual towel).  If you sew two towels together and maybe add some waterproof interfacing to this I'm seeing a super simple and super functional diaper changer :).  Go HERE where Chezlin.com shows you how to do it!
